Hi, I'm Miki!
Welcome!
Discover the strength within you to create the life you deserve. I am passionate about creating a space where you can explore who you are without judgement. Whether you’re wrestling with questions about your identity, facing the pressures of academic life, or just need someone who gets it, I am here to help. My approach is collaborative and tailored to you, focusing on what matters most to you in your journey of self-growth and discovery. Â
In the therapy room:
I will always meet you where you’re at. I love working with young adults, LGBTQIA+ folks, and college students who are navigating pivotal moments in their lives. I utilize techniques from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and a trauma-informed, strengths based approach. On a non-technical level, I provide a warm, calm, and non-judgemental environment. I think we often underestimate the power of showing up for someone, and I will show up for you. We will work together to find solutions to the issues that plague you and help you make the changes that will allow you to live your best life.
My therapy specialty areas include:
Anxiety, Depression, EMDR Therapy, Grief and Loss, LGBTQIA+ issues, academic stressors, and neurodivergence.Â
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I am passionate about creating a judgement-free space where you can explore who you are. Whether you’re wrestling with questions about your identity, facing the pressures of academic life, or just need someone who gets it, I am here to help.
My training as a therapist:
I completed my MSW through Fordham University’s online program. I completed an internship at Lighthouse of Oakland County, assisting people with emergency housing needs. I also did an internship at Forever Families in Livonia, assisting in their therapy and foster care departments. While I interned in the therapy department, I assisted in formulating the internship program and collected numerous learning materials for future interns. I also participated in play therapy sessions with foster children and teens. Post-grad, I worked at Arbor Hospice as a hospice social worker where I provided support for patients and their families as they navigated one of the most difficult times of their life. This position helped me grow immensely as a social worker and helped me realize how important it is to have someone who will actively and empathetically listen.Â
Outside of the therapy office:
I have a spouse and two cats. I love playing video games, listening to music, and spending too much time playing D&D. I enjoy spending time with my friends and taking the occasional afternoon nap.Â
